Best External Hard Drive To Get For Mint
Hello, everyone. I'm looking to buy an external hard drive, the most ideal one being 2TB and USB powered, and I did some research and found that some of these (mainly the WD My Passport's) have issues with usability in linux. Which USB hard drive would you reccomend as being the most reliable for a computer running linux mint?

Re: Best External Hard Drive To Get For Mint
Hi. I use two WD Passports to back up my files. I haven't experienced any reliability issues. The only restriction I have found is that the built-in encryption doesn't work with linux. So I use the linux software encryption instead.
If you are intending to install linux on the drive I would avoid using a drive >2TiB capacity as this will require using GPT formatting which complicates the installation considerably. Or you could install Grub to a device with MBR formatting.

Tiger direct had a 2 gig Fantom on sale today only, for $69.95. I have two and am thinking of getting a third. They didn't mention the brand. ker
