Upgrading from 13 to 14

Once again, I couldn't be more pleased.
My data was already backed up, so I downloaded the image file (about 12 minutes); burned the CD (a few minutes); restarted my machine with the CD (a couple minutes); and voila. Video and sound were perfect and so I chose Install from the menu; waited about four minutes; and rebooted to my new version. It simply doesn't get better than that.
I had my /home directory on another partition, so almost everything was ready to go. I did need to reload a couple programs: gedit, for instance. That took a bit of time for me to figure out because the latest version wasn't in the repository. The software reloading relates to the only feature that I'd love to see. It would be way cool if during the installation, when Mint notices the previous version, if it grabbed a listing of all of the programs I had installed and then offered to re-install them.
There have only been a few very minor glitches. For example, I have two Software Managers in the Control Center, only one of which works. Also some of my popup notifications, not all, appear off the bottom edge of my display. But this is all minor.
I have a low-priced Lenovo desktop machine that I bought in July of 2011 for $399 on Amazon. It has an AMD Athlon II X4 645 processor, 8 gigs of memory (that I upgraded from 2), a 128 gig solid state drive (that I lifted from my old laptop), and AMD RS780 video (that came built-in). After I enter my hardware password, it takes about 15 seconds before I see the Mate logon screen and then 3 more seconds from password entry until I can start using the desktop. Awesome.
