Personally, I wish to keep mint 14 and upgrade to Cinnamon 1.8 because mint 14 has been very stable for me. But excited to know about the next version of Mint.

Projected changes for Cinnamon 1.8
MAIN FEATURES
- Desklets [dalcde]
- Ability for cinnamon-settings to browse/install/remove/update themes/applets/extensions/desklets remotely [clem]
- Bumpmaps [esteban] [dalcde]
- Control Center (Cinnamon and GNOME properties within one same settings tool) [clem]
- Rethink Cinnamon 2D, fallback to a non-shadow CPU-less intensive session in software rendering mode and/or Muffin/OpenBox (whatever happens, the user should know he's not running the "real" Cinnamon, he should be told why, and he should find himself with a working WM (even a minimalistic one like OpenBox)).
ADDITIONAL FEATURES
- Configurable color schemes for themes
- Calendar events - similar to KDE's implementation [clem]
NEW APPLETS
- email notifier (imap/pop)
- Pulse-like RSS reader
NEW DESKLETS
- System monitor
- Picture, video, slideshow frame
- Terminal

xenopeek wrote:zacharysonicfast, that is perhaps something to post as an idea on the Community website. Or here on the Suggestions & New Ideas forum. This late in the release cycle for Linux Mint 15 I don't think you can expect such a major change to be implemented. It sounds like quite an overhaul of the installer; handling this both for automatic and manual partitioning. You may understand such a feature requires development time and test time, not something that is likely possible to do without impacting the release date target.
If you don't want to donate the "obscene amount of money" that catweazel suggests, then how else will you help implement this change? But discuss that on your idea, and let's stick to being on topic here--answering what will be in the upcoming Mint 15

The mint devs have a lot of work to do and they do it all in their own time. If saving you the bother of performing a copy/paste out of the notes you've kept is worth so much to you then I'm sure the mint devs would drop everything and implement your needs if you were to offer them an obscene amount of money.
