I have been running Ubuntu for the past 4 years. last version 10.04. I really liked Ubuntu and learned alot on keeping it running. Have to say for the most part any problems that I came across were easily fixed by googling. Version 10.04 support will end April 1st, no joke.... The past few months figured it would be time to upgrade or try a new distro. It was going to be a tough choice. Played around with many in Virtualbox over the past year, came to the conclusion Mint should be my next distro. Chose Mint 14, good move. picked a new 1TB hard drive and installed Mint 14 Cinnamon. Installation went perfect so I thought. Mint 14 would not boot, tried numerous supposed fixes for the day. Problem was Grub didn't like my Nvidia Geforce 8600 video card. The next morning found another supposed fix.
By golly it worked, once booted, switched drives thru Synaptic Package Manger. Not one problem with booting since.

For the past two weeks have been tweaking this and that, getting things running smoothly as they were in Ubuntu.

What I have found 3d effect in games were outstanding, had a couple games crash, not really a problem, don't play them often anyways.
CPU temps are down to 27-28 degress C from 32-35 in Ubuntu. Everything runs faster and the special effects are great. Only thing that threw me for a loop was the hot corner that switches desktops. Everytime I went to hit file, four desktops appeared on my screen. Didn't even know about the hot corner until I was adjusting settings.

Only problem still can't fix is getting my Microsoft Bluetooth Mobile 6000 keyboard to work. Have to use the old wired keyboard, it needs to be replaced....

So far I am happy with Mint 14 Cin., still a few tweaks to do here and there...... overall having an excellent experience with this distro.

Bluetooth keyboard now works. Played around with the themes-other settings. Icons were switched to oxygen. That's the only change I made.
Guessing when I originally customized my themes and desktop, icons. Something was not compatible.

Finding the more I use Mint 14 Cin, the more I like it. Nice switch from Ubuntu 10.04
