Why does the name matter that much anyway? For me they could just as well drop it and call it "Linux Mint 17"

Linux Mint 17 FLIES !

Post by xian555 »

Hi,
Since Linux Mint 17 will be based on Ubuntu 14-04, and LTS version good for 2 years of support, and Linux Mint users are ever increasing, I thought that taking a name from the world of aviation, more precisely from the The International Phonetic Alphabet for Aviation (see http://airtravel.about.com/od/airtravel ... phabet.htm ), and in that code Linux Mint 17 would use Q, then it would be called Quebec.

Cheers,

xian

Good try!

But Linux Mint release names are women names ending with a 'a'.
Elyssa, Felicia, Gloria, Helena...

Hi,

Thx for putting me on track. Then how about :

Qadira = powerful
Qamra = moon
Quaneisha or Queisha= life
Querida = beloved
Questa = quest
Quirita = citizen
Quoba = good
Quintessa latin for essential

most from : http://www.aussiethings.com.au/babynames/qgirl.htm

. . . of which I would propose Queisha

Cheers,

xian

I don't know if this name has been submitted before but...

Qiana

It means "Singer" in Arabic. It appeals to me anyway. :)

I would like to suggest Qiana; - just for the sound of it.

It could also be spelt Quiana.
From Urban dictionary: A very beautiful girl, usually african american but mixed with another nationality. A Quiana is very unique, crazy at times, and usually very nice and loving.....
Kind regards & :wink:

You and me seem to be thinking along the same lines as I suggested the same name a couple of comments previous. The name also means "Singer". Great minds think alike? :D

Really I like the new name. Sounds good. However, the point is not really the name, the point it's the Operative System......

And we all know already that Linux Mint Team makes excellent products !!!! Good Luck !!!!
