Upgrading Ubuntu 4.10 to current

Postby Acid_1 on Fri Nov 01, 2013 10:49 pm

Ok, currently downloading warty warthog, and was thinking of installing in a VM, and pointing apt to the Linux Mint 15 and Raring Ringtail, and let the chips fall where they may. Predictions? I'm cautiously optimistic.

FTFY :)

There hasn't been built a brick wall yet that somebody with resolve and determination can't head butt their way through... Oh wait :| Auw

Why not just install Linux Mint 15 and spend your time instead on a real challenge, like helping out others here with problems

I figure I might be able to get somewhere. What I foresee happening atm is that gnome2 is only available so far in the repos. I may have to add some ubuntu 12, or 11, repos to upgrade it to the latest/last release, then switch it to MATE.

And I'll still help other new guys out, it's just I like to get into the internals of gnu/linux and see how it works inside, the more you fix, the more tools you have for future disasters.

True :) Good luck on this one--it should give you some skills indeed for future disasters. A few of the long time users here are known to get grumpy when nothing breaks on their system for a while, and then deliberately do something to tempt their system to break so they can go ahead and fix it again
