just installed mint today after my ubuntu was experiencing bugginess after an update that happened 3-4 months ago. switching to mint, seems behavior is exactly the same...
your team should work on stripping down the gui to bare minimum and exclude this customization.. the more u add, the more potential side effects can occur - that seems to be what happened to me after my last ubuntu 12.04 "update"..
Now to find a distro with fewer bells and whistles.. hopefully this won't be more than a half day wasted :/
this sucks

have you tried any of the others?
my problems with 12.04 was when they went to the 3.8 kernel my machine did not like that. Don't know if Mint followed suite with kernel up date but it's been working ok here.

Re: this sucks
the problems I'm having are related to the mouse.. When I "pick up" a window to move it, the focus is lost... Or if I try to highlight something the scope is lost, and also clicks get released before releasing. This happens consistantly and randomly...
You may be right that this is an issue having to do with the Kernel rather than one specific distribution. I don't want to make any guesses.

Re: this sucks

Re: this sucks
I feel like a dumb idiot right now! The problem has been my damn mouse being broken all along.
