It's been known for a while that many forms of disk encryption can be easily cracked through using FireWire exploits, and most people looking to encrypt their files are not trying to protect them from the average house hold snoop. This means excluding a firewire device from your computer is irrelevant if an attacked has physical access to the computer.
As far as I know, Linux Mint 13 had these vulnerabilities. Have any of these since been corrected in the most recent LM versions?
Is LM17 disk encryption vulnerable to FireWire exploits?
