XFCE version of Mint for older hardware?

Postby bigbearomaha on Fri Mar 30, 2007 10:46 am

I see the impact XFCE has in making a nice new OS work very well on some older hardware.
SAM Linux does very well with PCLOS as a base.

I think Mint could do just as well, if not better, with XFCE and making it run on p2 and up.

Has there been any thought to this?

I work with local schools and install Linux quite a bit for their donated PC's. quite a few of them are p2's or amd equivalents. With Mint and Sam, I am able to make things go well. but to be honest, I am not as happy with PCLOS anymore.

I think they have gone off track with 2007. and I am looking for a good xfce install. I am testing Xubuntu, but it would be so much better with the Mint touch.

Just my two cents.
