A Linux Mint Electric Fireplace

Post by KBD47 »

A few years ago we bought an electric fireplace. The cabinet is beautiful, but the electric fireplace itself was badly made and only lasted one winter. Just for the heck of it I tore the inner workings of the electric fireplace out and put an old Dell lcd monitor inside of it. I'm using Linux Mint Xfce 17 on a netbook and running Xscreensaver. That is the Atlantis screensaver though my pictures don't do it much justice. The experiment turned out better than I expected.

Well done you. My daughter will soon be moving to a new house soon that has some unused fire surrounds. And I've got a few unused screens. I wonder if I can convince her it would be a good idea to combine the two.
Go Steady, but keep going

Thanks.
Go for it :-) There is something cool about a video fireplace. I always liked the one on Colbert Report.

That one will be great. Also snowflakes, fireworks, timetunnel, matrix, and pacman would be fun. Xscreensaver has some nice screensavers.
