Another convert to Mint!

Postby Tony@DuxfordUK on Thu Apr 12, 2007 9:28 am

Hi Everyone

After a long, long time involving much heartache, frustration and downloading, my search is over!
I've made a page, outlining my adventures:

http://tony.smith01.googlepages.com/home

I hope it gives newcomers some information and pointers, and I'd like to just thank Clem and the Mint team for enabling me to find something I thought I'd never be able to - a real replacement to Windows.

Look forward to the future with you all,

Tony, Duxford (Nr. Cambridge, UK)

Hi Tony!

Welcome aboard!
And feel free to give us your thoughts about how to make Mint even better...
I don't have a solution, but I do admire the problem.

Very nice Tony, this is very encouraging for us and I'm glad you could make the switch from Windows.

Welcome aboard Tony@DuxfordUK,

Your site is interesting. You, like most of us Mint converts, have very good reasons to switch to Linux.
I hope you won't miss all that malware , spyware and virus hunting.
Over here we don't even have a fox-hunting event. :(
I will request Clem to start at least a duck-hunting program here.

Cheers old mate,
Npap

The path sounds relatively familiar, to my quest for a widows replacement. The quest lead me here and it is a very satisfying journeys end. I have pointed several co-workers and associates in other countries to Mint, and they too are switching over to the fresh Mint flavor of the many Linux distributions that we can choose from.

I too prefer Gnome, but found that the Mint KDE desktop was by far the most impressive.

Many Thanks to Clem and the team. Here's to a great future - Cheers!

I've only just begun using Mint (i.e., today :P ), but already I'm finding it to be among my favorite Linux distros. I may not be switching over from Windows (I've got Mint running in VMware), but I can certainly see why so many would. From the moment I got the LiveCD running I was surfing the 'net, chatting with friends, and listening to music on Pandora. This is not only a keeper for me, but also something I wouldn't hesitate to recommend to others.

Many thanks to the dev team...I can't wait to see what the future holds for Mint!
