Shiki is just a made up word, it's kind of like poetic license for a theme. Shiki colors was the original theme, it was originally made for Ubuntu but they tend to resist change and only offered it as a community based theme. Our community saw the potential of the theme and made a minty version. Clem also saw the potential the theme had and put it in the spotlight in Mint 7. It's a cool sounding name and a great looking theme!
