But . . . then, we'd sound like Ubuntu?

Good, saves confusion.

so..... I was thinking of something like Jade, you know, the ornamental stone that's same the color as mint?
( lame ? meh... :  ) - so why not one of its variants: Jada, Jayda, Jaida...

Also, some really smart guy suggested Juno before, which I really like... so again... why not something similar, like Juna.
Or Jana, or Janna which are variants of Johana (which I do not like) and shares its meaning.

uhh... and plz no Juana or Juanita. As a native spanish speaker I can tell you it doesn't sound great at all. Nowadays you won't find so many people named like that. Not young people at least.

well, I'd go for Justina being that it is the name of my first love.

However, I'm not sure about all the catchphrases that might surface around it. Sure, some can be used for promotion. When you say Mint is "ready out of the box" you could also say "How easy is it for a beginner to set up? Just In A moment" But some could always make it a running joke. "Just In A Jiffy" (condom!)

I don't care what they name it.. as long as it's functional.

In order of preference:
Julia
Juliana
Joana

I think too regional names (ones that are only accepted as "valid names" in a too restricted geographic region) are not a preferable solution. Double letters, like Julianna or Joanna or even Johanna must be thought of, too.

By the way, I think Karina should be an obvious choice for Mint 11

Reminding, too, that names that finish with "ita", like Juanita, are actually diminutive forms of Juana. (like in Lola -> Lolita)

Otherwise in case of letter J: maybe Jeanne?

Pre-requisites for naming of the next LinuxMint release/version:

The name must begin with the letter "J" and end with the letter "a"

It's really quite 'simple'

Romeo needs Juliet.
And the name Juliet is originated from Julia.

So I vote for Julia
