Good topic ikey.
Furthermore, "How to use the IRC" is also available on the new community website.
It's essentially the same information covered here, with another few tidbits on pastebin and imagebin.
Yay for Linux Mint IRC channels

Re: Getting Support on IRC
IRC (Internet Relay Chat) may be archaic but it still RULES! It's been a godsend for me!
/server irc.spotchat.org
and then type one of the following chat rooms to join:
/join #linuxmint
/join #linuxmint-help
/join #linuxmint-chat
/join #pimpmymint
Had to add that because when I was beginning I got confused where to enter the server and chat info.
or simply type in the input window the text below:ikey wrote: How do I get there?
If you are using Mint right now then you can just open X-Chat and it will automatically connect
to the channels. If you are using an alternative client you will need these details:Code: Select all
Server: irc.spotchat.org Port : 6667 (SSL is 6697)
/server irc.spotchat.org
and then type one of the following chat rooms to join:
/join #linuxmint
/join #linuxmint-help
/join #linuxmint-chat
/join #pimpmymint
