Thought the .1 meant Service Pack installed or something.

Cheers :)

Just looked at the various views on DistroWatch rankings today. Not only is Mint still climbing, but Ubuntu is sinking like a stone, really widening the gap.

Yeah, they have done much and systematicly to scare away people I'm afraid.
They've done the opposite of what Mint does.

Found this on Google+

Fabian Scherschel - 4:22 PM - Public

I find it actually quite funny to see how sore the Ubuntu people are in reaction to someone daring to suggest another distro might actually become more popular.

After riding the wave of their awesomeness for years, one can't help but wonder how hard the crash is gonna be if this love-fest ever comes to an end.

Most of them seem unable to fathom that there are actually better distros out there, that cater to the same user base.

Mint Rocks!!

Current stats, from each forum's main page...

Mint forums:

In total there are 209 users online :: 19 registered, 0 hidden and 190 guests (based on users active over the past 5 minutes)

Ubuntu forums:

Currently Active Users: 5432 (237 members and 5136 guests and 59 Spiders)

Hm.

Re. the Ubuntu forum ... don't you feel there are far more posts in the Community section? And a whole bunch of "game" threads? There are also quite a few Mint queries there as well as the MATE thread :D

I feel that the forum activity stats blow away the DistroWatch page hit rankings.

I present those numbers simply to add some perspective to the conversation.

How important is it that this distro or that distro is the most popular, or the most-used, or #1 at DistroWatch? We're all Linux users first, right? Ubuntu and Linux Mint are both ultimately Debian-based distros, right? Are we here simply to help whatever distro we're using to be the #1 Linux distro?

I love Linux. Period. I don't know if the in-fighting between distros, and the fanboyism, does anything positive for the Linux world. I think it produces dissension, conflict, and bad feelings. But maybe I'm wrong, maybe we need it.

Ugh. Tribalism.

No, you're (sort of) right.
But it is fun to have a party for a while.
After that it is back to business, 'keep spreading the message' and 'beware of the ugly'.
But it is great what these packers and developers do in my humble opinion.
They are really listening and it pays off. :D
