(SOLVED) Booting

Postby frank75riz on Fri Nov 18, 2011 3:05 pm

As I boot up on this desktop, a ThinLine HP, I get a a little note and it hangs for a while then the boot continues. "Information....out of Range......92.6khz/58hz"
It is nothing more then annoying, and i would like to get rid of it. Does anyone have any ideas about this????

I am running Mint 12, and it is great.....but that little note is like a a very small wart, and I don't want it.

Help???

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

I'm guessing this would be the GRUB bootmenu, which uses a 640x480 resolution by default which perhaps your HP can't handle. If you think it may be this, go ahead and open a terminal and run:
Code: Select all
gksudo gedit /etc/default/grub

Then find the following line and remove the # in front of it:
Code: Select all
#GRUB_TERMINAL=console

Then save & close the file and run:
Code: Select all
sudo update-grub2

All done. GRUB bootmenu should now be using plain textmode, and your HP should be able to handle that.
