Is it ok for laptop running LMDE to be left on for weeks?

How often do you need to / should you reboot ?

I'd pull the battery, so as not to leave it on charge that long. For a laptop, heat is the only thing I can think of now that might be a problem, I think I would use a cooling pad if it stayed on that long.

When I had to use my netbook full time, only time I turned it off was on a road trip and when updating system files like the kernel.

Any time you aren't using it - shut it down. It is senseless to leave it running. (unless it is a server).

The only time I manually shutdown my lappy is during expected Severe Weather.
