Ughhh. I can't stand Fedora. Honestly, in school Fedora and Red Hat are what turned me off of Linux. It wasn't until recent years when a friend introduced me to Mint 10, that I started enjoying Linux as it just worked (to quote Mac). Ubuntu isn't bad either, I have an imaging server that was an option for Ubuntu, (among other Linux distros) so I chose Ubuntu since it's close to Mint.

I have a machine acting as a file server that doubles as a DHCP server for work. Then coworkers as me to install a Quickbooks database on a machine. I certainly don't want to add a whole other computer just running a single task... So I decided to rebuild a new machine ruinning Fedora, as that's the only one I know anything about that's compatable as a Quickbooks database... I hate Fedora, just makes everything more complicated.

So if anybody can help me with a file share and then DHCP I can call quickbooks and have them help me with setting up their database...

Fecktastic. Been trying to get this share for like two hours, shouldn't take this long to share a fecking folder! Is OpenSUSE easier? That's the only other Linux version that is officially supported by Quickbooks...

Might help to know the version of quickbooks tyou want to use, codeweavers (a wine implementation) can support some version of quickbooks, or you might look at wineHQ to see which one(s) can be run

http://support.quickbooks.intuit.com/su ... 1229fedora DB server for quickbooks/Linux..
-- don't know that is what you wanted to do, for you actually need to use the windows DB (quickbooks) connection to see if you can deal with the file format

Wine..

The quickbooks client might still be a problem, examine the DB client connection on a windows machine, see what it is trying to use (the connection..)

I'm trying to set up the database server (not the client) on Linux, as all I've got are old XP machines and a crappy Vista machine with 1GB RAM. I'm trying to do this on a 3GHz P4 that I've boosted to 2.5GB DDR1. No scat, as annoying as Windows may be, at least it's supported by the QB Database Server, I'd have been done hours ago, but NOOOOOOO they won't spend the money but request the service. Even if Quickbooks officially supported Mint, I'd have been done!

As for Version, it's Enterprise 13.
