lol, i've just finished edit my post, not knowing that you've answer it

well, dont you think that the script need a fix? i don't know how, but Main edition can have it's grub background, and if user want to use another pict, one can simply copy the pict to /boot/grub, remove the old pict, and run sudo grub-update. With that script, even if grub-update recignize the file, it won't use it..

The script /etc/grub.d/07_grub_theme sets some colors when /boot/grub/lmdekdebg.png is found, nothing more.
So,if removing the lmdekdebg.png image doesn't do a thing, I'm afraid the only option left is to purge the grub theme.

I just posted SR1.
No big changes this time: It includes the latest DDM (with improved blacklisting and reboot confirmation) and update manager now shows the correct update pack.
The previous two iso's (UP5 and UP6) are still available.
So, when you're downloading those now, you don't need to stop your download.

All seems well. It now reports LMDE KDE Edition like it should.

I think we now ironed out all the issues that remained since you first installed LMDE KDE.

Yes, already did. It seems to be working fine. In fact apart from nvidia's driver, everything seems to be working and looking fab. I tried out your Plymouth manager. Multiple changes on all features. Worked perfectly every time.

The following isn't important. A "user interface polishing" suggestion for DDM. When I go to Wireless or Kernel, the display still says "Graphics" on top. See attachment.

Trying to see it from a novice user point of view I'd also suggest that it display something to the effect of "no changes are needed" where appropriate so they know nothing is needed rather than think it's blank 'cause something isn't working, if that makes sense...

I hope to replace my Mint KDE partition with the unofficial LMDE KDE soon but I want it to point to sid. Can someone tell me what the sources are that I need to change, or point me to somwhere that has the info because I'm not sure from my searches that the sources I have found are current. Thanks.

Redownloaded and reinstalled DDM. Works like you said now.

I think Schoelje's post will end up with a broken system because he's using the experimental repo. Change every instance of experimental to si or unstable. Secondly, I don't believe, but I'm not sure, that there's a security repo for Sid. Finally, if you wish to run experimental, you still have to have the Sid repo because experimental isn't a complete release.

That's what I was thinking, but for some reason my brain told me to verify it before I opened the newest .deb.

Earlier I mentioned issues with the nvidia driver. Videos would display horizontal "tearing" especially during busy images. I found a solution and am posting it here in case any other LMDE KDE users w/nvidia have this problem. The solution in my case was to change KDE's desktop effects (Settings > System Settings > Desktop Effects > Advanced tab) composting type from the default in my case (xrender) to OpenGL and select Use VSync option. This is likely nvidia's problem, but that's the work around.

I've been noticing that ddm doesn't seem to recognize my wireless chipset, despite the fact that I'm online via a WiFi connection. I'm on a Lenovo T61 laptop but I couldn't find what kind of chip I get my wireless signal with. I'm attaching a screenshot of what the network management plasmoid says about my connection.

which seems to be supported by this driver:
firmware-iwlwifi
which is installed by default.

DDM only checks for Broadcom (for now) because this is the one causing the most trouble for users.

As soon as there are other chipsets that need to be included in DDM, I'll include them in DDM.

Ah, ok. I forgot you were just worrying about the PITA Broadcom chips for now. I was thinking DDM would have said something like, "You have X chip, and you already have the drivers installed." Silly me.

It seems that the torrent files were not working: time-outs on the trackers (all five of them!).
So, I recreated and tested the knew ones and that seemed to work.

time to give my feedback after my oops a few days ago

- installation went smooth after i sorted out that issue (as i would expect)

not much time to explore the system but i noticed a couple things
- we have now (from lmde kde up6 onwards) a preferences file (the same as in lmde).
- konsole lists 2 profiles (shell and linuxmint) there should be a difference between them but i had no time yet to see it.
- ddm worked perfectly (nvidia) viewtopic.php?f=47&t=113559&p=667746#p667746
- dpm: i guess i don't know how to use the app viewtopic.php?f=47&t=120073&p=667747#p667747

I have a small question... I am already on mint debian. Been running it for more than a year now, I however use KDE extensively, and therefore world really like my kde to be always up to date so I get the newest and best of KDE. I am very interested in this version of LMDE as a result, however I am not prepared to fresh install this LMDE-KDE as a lot of settings and customizations are at stake that I'm not prepared to redo with a new installation. To be honest if I was I would have moved to Chakra or Mageia or even Opensuse which have better kde support. Of course, I did not know about this version of LMDE then, but now that I do, I am filled with some hope and want to ask if by any chance you use different repositories to Mint Debian such that I can just "upgrade" to LMDE KDE from LMDE instead of doing a fresh install.

LMDE KDE uses the same repositories as LMDE.
However, LMDE KDE has several packages that are not in the repositories (that's why it's "unofficial") that make LMDE KDE like it is now.
You could always run LMDE KDE in Virtualbox and see what you have to do to get your customizations to work.
