Heron + MintApps?

Just because I could, really, I installed all the mint applications on Ubuntu Hardy Heron. Let's go over the results...

MintMenu;

None of the applications show up. Aw, I'm a good fan of the menu. I'm just happy it works so great in Mint!

MintInstall;

Wow, this works very well in hardy! I was able to install google earth (from the daryna portal), something I never knew how to do in Ubuntu, and it works perfectly. Then I installed the Alien-Arena in the Elyssa portal, and it worked perfectly too...

MintAssistant;

Works perfectly.

MintDesktop;

Seems to work perfectly, but I didn't try out all the settings.

MintUpdate;

It only shows ubuntu updates, so works basically the same as the ubuntu update manager.

---

Worked better than what I expected, really... Keep in mind I installed the tools that are currently on Daryna. Maybe I'll try installing the ones for Elyssa? How do I get the repository for that?

Does it show kernel-updates as lvl5 as in mint? If it does. it's a huge improvement over the update manager in ubuntu. (*hint* Whoops, downloaded and installed a kernel my hardware struggles with and now my system is dead without noticing OH NO! *hint*)
I don't know... I discovered what happens when you rename your home folder (oops) and it wouldn't even let me back in to the failsafe terminal. Oh well, that partition was for messing around...

Hey that's odd...

I had the same idea, few days ago, but i had no troubles with MintMenu. Actually general Gnome Menu was replaced before anything else :wink:
On the other hand MintInstall had some issues and won't start (can't remember the output).

Have you tried the MintTools from the unstable repositories or the stable ones? I am using the unstable repositories for quite a few months and they have been working very well.

just change the according line in your /etc/apt/sources.list and sudo apt-get update

Code: Select all

I think I was using the stable ones... Anyways, I'm using the "unstable" ones in my mint partition now.
