JavaScript becoming default language for GNOME apps

May just be me and my lack of programming skills and zero intimate knowledge of code.
Just my observation from a user's perspective is java as clunky resource hog?

What's your take on it? And hope to learn something new.

Yes, it's just you. Look on the bright side. It could be much worse...

It could be VBScript

Java is a bit bloaty as a language, but that doesn't make all Java programs resource hogs. As with any programming language, it depends on the skills of the programmers. Perhaps because Java is too easy to get in to, there as so many poorly performing Java programs out there.

But, JavaScript ≠ Java. It's a different language

What do they even mean by "default language"? The language in which gnome devs write the software they bundle with gnome? The language they recommend for other people wanting to develop gnome-compatible software? Both/neither?
