Hi,
I have just installed Mint 14 Cannibal on my external hard drive( 650 GB).I connect it to my laptop via USB 2.Mint works fine and after updated itself it works better in terms of speed. But it sometimes getting slow especially when I am trying to write on google search bar or anywhere.it shows what I wrote a few second later after I hit the keys..so it become boring sometimes. I thought it could be because I couldnt install my Nvidia Grapics Card driver so I started to think that maybe I should try less resource consumer-disto..what I am looking for is a distro have basic programs like office , only one media player and browser and easy and simple appereance and some visual effects. it must be easy user friendly.

I dont want to more than one video player or chat programs like MIRC.I dont want to give up visual effects or professional looking but I dont want to unnecessary programs I dont need..I tried to uninstall some programs like Pidgin Internet Messenger but I couldnt..

Could you help me please? thanks a lot
my laptop has dualcore intel 2.1 Ghz processor and 2GB RAM and Nvidia 210M Grapics Card 512 MB --64 bit

I'm not sure, but I'm wondering if the lag might have to do with being installed on an external hard drive. As for other distros to try, you might go with one of the fine "one-app-per-task" type distros, such as Fuduntu or Salix. I recently installed Fuduntu on my Thinkpad T61, and I like it a lot, it's pretty slick and responsive.
