I can't speak for Gentoo, however I expect the same applies here; Slackware is not dying. Slackware and Gentoo are two distros that refuse to become user friendly, this puts off many new users to Linux who expect graphical installers and easy to use package managers. The growth of one distribution does not mean that the others are dying. Linux is not a company that must constantly grow. Slackware will never dye because of the users like myself that refuse to change their habits and their distro.
