Battlefield 4 Developers Would Love To Get Into Linux > http://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=news_item&px=MTQ4NDc
The game studio DICE responsible for hit titles like the Battlefield series, has expressed "strong" interest in Linux. DICE, which is owned by EA, is just the latest of many game studios now exhibiting strong interest in Linux following Valve's leading Linux actions.
In speaking to Polygon.com, Lars Gustavsson, the DICE creative director said the game studio would "strongly" like to get into Linux. Lars also said that they feel Linux only needs one "killer" game to explode in popularity, similar to Halo kicking off the original Xbox.
It's easy to get Linux these days and with a very popular title being exclusive to Linux, it could drive many Windows gamers to Linux.

So why don't they? I mean, I have a strong interest in dating Megan Fox, but that won't be happening for obvious reasons. What is stopping them?

Ubuntu Gaming Performance Edging Closer to Windows 8

Recent gaming benchmarks appear to show that gaming performance on Ubuntu is picking up speed, with claims that it is now “mostly on par” with that of Windows 8.1.
While only one game was compared in the tests - Team Fortress 2 – and synthetic benchmarks rounding out the rest, these early indications continue to show an aggressive performance increase in gaming on Linux thanks to improved drivers from GPU vendors.
While the machine used in the benchmarking is far from your typical home PC – packing in an Intel i7 Haswell CPU (quad core), a mammoth 16GB of RAM and 240GB SSD for super responsiveness – a large number of graphics cards were tested, including some decent mid-range cards.
Overall the tests are reported to have seen Windows 8.1 pipping Ubuntu in most areas – but in many cases only just.
With Valve’s Linux-based Steam OS arriving in the coming months it’s probable that we’ll see more games tuned for Linux, resulting in further performance games under real-life tests.
The game is truly on.

Re: Game-Developers Would Love To Get Into Linux
I game on Linux already, but my games are geeky games that probably won't appeal to the masses. Turn-based games like online chess (at chess.com), Dungeon Crawl Stone Soup (supports Linux 100%!), and the Battle for Wesnoth. Are there any other cool games that I'm missing out on? I tried 0 AD, but it's still very much beta these days. Looks to me like an "Age of Mythology" clone. I have to admit I do miss "Age of Mythology", which is Windows-only. I don't think it works in Wine, but I could be mistaken... I just never used Wine before. But in researching Wine, I did find that AoM and ACDSee don't appear to run.passerby wrote:Especially if you have a GTX 680vrkalak wrote:Ubuntu Gaming Performance Edging Closer to Windows 8
