USB LM-13 portable Linux

Post by cardineau »

I wanted a portable Linux version for visiting friends and maintaining my normal computer activities. Also as a safety backup. I tried various distros ...Knoppix ,,,Point ... Debian ...Ubuntu ...Fedora...and all lacked one thing or another which I didn't want to have to jump thru hoops to get around. Linux Mint was the obvious answer for me, and I tried making a portable distro with Unetbootin. This put a distro in the 16G USB but only left 1.5 G for additional data or applications. I choose LM13 as this is supported for a longer time. So I cleared the USB and used the LM13 install DVD to install Linux directly on the USB. This worked well, but was time consuming. I now have a complete portable linux USB and have 11 G usable free space.
