Credit Crunch benefits

Postby Ozz on Wed Feb 25, 2009 11:59 am

It is not all doom and gloom as the credit crunch approaches, and tramples us... (I can feel it's tremors and my job is seriously at risk).

This article from the UK government could be the signs of a general acknowledgement of the benefits of open source software by the powers that be.

A small excerpt:
Minister for Digital Engagement, Tom Watson, said the new policy reflects changes to both the Open Source market and the Government’s approach to IT. It sets out ten actions that will make sure of a level playing field for Open Source Software, and encourage the use of Open Standards.

Interesting! Open Source is booming in these bad economic times. I too feel the crunch where I work. My factory will be laying off 170 people next month...

Yes, and France is also getting there slowly! The whole Police Force might have ubuntu desktops!!!!

Ah oui, et la france n'est pas en reste, il me semble que la Police nationale passe sur Ubuntu, pour l'OS de base!
