indeed but looks can be deceiving. I currently have only used Mint 10 KDE and I am looking for other versions. considering all of the bad reviews i have read of Mint KDE and Kubuntu and how few good reviews I have found I'm looking to play the field. While I personally have no issues with Mint KDE aside from the slowness I wanna make sure that I'm not missing out on an even better distribution

Not going to say Best.

After trying many distros, for me those listed below stay in computers in multi boot environment
Sabayon, more bleeding edge feeling
PCLinuxOS stable, good tools
Pardus corp2, stable, a little slow, older KDE3.5 style, suitable for people who like 3.5 especially to show would be windows convert
Pardus 2011, fast, pretty, easy to configure using kaptan
Salix, fast on old computer
Mepis, fast. used it for my Master Boot loader since it used grub legacy

"Favorites" can change over time, even from year to year. Mepis is probably my all-around favorite KDE distro, for one because it's based on Debian Stable, which I like, and also because it's usually very well put together.

I'm not sure how you define "KDE distro" since versions like Mint KDE are not really distros, are they? I consider Mint to be a GNOME distro first.

I also like PCLOS, but right now the nicest one I'm running is Fedora 14 KDE. But, again, I think of Fedora as a GNOME distro first.

As for speed, I don't know, I don't really notice much difference.

I like PCLinuxOS and am looking forward to the 64-bit version. I have no problems suggesting it to others.
Mepis never did run as good for me as Debian does. Must be my hardware.
Pardus with KDE 3.5.10 is sweet, but their package selection is extremely limited.
Debian 5 with KDE 3.5 is the most stable KDE implementation I ever used. I am going to experiment with Debian 6 and KDE sometime soon.

I'm not a fan of direct Debian based distros. Wine just will not work for me in them. Same with Debian itself.

I consider a "distro" as any distribution that offers a complete, Well-put together KDE edition that does not have the feel of just being a little "side-project". For example Mint 10 KDE may not be the main edition but it is worked on by itself for a fully-functional KDE edition and it shows. Mint 10 KDE feels like a REAL distro not just a side-project.

Hmmm, well, I do not use any MIcrosoft products and could care less about Wine, so our needs are different. I just get much better stability out of Debian.

Mandriva/Mageia may be an option for you to follow-up on. Though, PCLinuxOS is a worthy contender.

I do need Wine. I play a multitude of MMORPG's that do not have a native linux client such as Perfect World International and Jade Dynasty.

My only real issue here is speed. I literally can only do, at most, 3 or 4 tasks at once. and i have 3gb RAM and a 2.20ghz dual-core processor.

PCLinuxOS, by far. If only KDE developers could stop playing with their toys and create a finished product...

I just downloaded Kanotix, 2011-03, just released, it is Debian 6 based, kde, kernel 2.6.38-5-generic.

Have not installed, just run USB stick on two computer, intel i3 and pentium4.

Have not played too much yet, first impression is Fast and good impression. did not have those issues I posts earlier in this forum..

It has wine, skype preinstalled.
Worth trying.

Is it rolling? I will give it a try. Is it faster than Mint 10 KDE?

I don't think it is rolling release. It repos is Debian Squeeze.

Just installed on intel core i3, wow, fast, snappy!! you should try it.
