g5 1.6 problems

hi guys, i just installed linux mint ppc on my old g5 1.6 and it seems to be working ok apart from the fact that the linux mint background image on the monitor cuts off half way down the screen. the top half of the screen is the top half of the linux mint background desktop image and the bottom is black. does anyone know what this could be
