Can't connect to the internet due to Ruijie Supplicant

I have been looking for a solution to a vexing problem I am having with using Linux in China. The University I am teaching at makes it impossible for me to connect to the internet using Linux.

This is done by using an authentication client called, “Ruijie Supplicant.” The trouble is that this authentication client only works in windows.

The company that provides the authentication software claims that there is a Linux client. However, no one seems to be able to get it to work (with one exception). If you google Linux and Riujiie, you will find a spate of questions asked in 2008 about this problem. I was the one that posted those questions. As stated, one person said that he had gotten the Linux client working. However, I was not able to replicate his results.

This authentication software is used both by the campus network and by the local ISPs’. As such, it is not possible to connect a Linux computer to the internet. Are you aware of any work that has been done to develop a working Ruijie client for Linux?

Latest one (deb) for ubuntu is dated Jan 6, 2011 . .
Once you have downloaded the deb file for ubuntu, it should only need a right-click -> Install with Gdebi. Gdebi should help you if there are any dependencies needed.

Thats way better than the one I found https://code.google.com/p/kstar-gui/ I downloaded it to check it out, but it seems unclear.

Google translator was used as well during my search, but even still, the translations still leave a lot to be desired!!!

Thanks, it is still not working; but, at least it is working well enough to give me an error message. Once I get someone who knows better Chinese than I do, to help, I will make more progress. But I am now significantly closer.

I am just updating this thread to say that I am posting this from my Linux laptop.It is now working.

I used the following command in terminal.
/usr/bin/mentohust -u[username] -p[password] -neth0 -i222.21.34.179 -m255.255.255.0 -g222.21.34.1

i'm trying to set up my ubuntu 10.10 with ruijiclient which i downloaded here:

it seems to have installed ok. and starts up looking for server, but appears to need configuring and im stuck there. i put my username (i think correctly) and password into the ruijie.conf file, but it still isnt working.

could you post your ruijie.conf file please so I can take a look at it?
