I downloaded the mintMenu from http://packages.linuxmint.com/#7main and was able to get the menu back. I dunno what the theme did but it seemed to mess stuff up bad. I'm still will to look into any advice anyone has that might be a better fix.

Yes, I have I restarted my computer a few times. I thought this might help bring back the menu.

Have you tried reinstalling with synaptic?
If so and it failed, here's an idea: open a terminal and type:
Code: Select all
apt download mintmenu

Open your home folder and extract the deb it just downloaded (mintmenu_4.7.8_all.deb).
Extract the "data.tar.gz" that is inside the folder it made.
All the files you need should be inside.

Ok, I had the same problem, and now I did as You said, and now what? Where do I `click`? :) Please, I am new on Linux :(
