Cant add user entry after remaster

Postby Nomad on Wed Jun 04, 2008 12:15 pm

I am getting an error message that says something about cant add entry for user. This is the first time I login after install. What would cause this? Everything else in the remaster works..

Which version of Mint did you remaster?
There is a bug in Elyssa that has to do with this - I haven't noticed exactly what though

Please read through the topic about beta048 for this bug - there may be a solution. I simply don't have the time (need to eat and sleep too :))

haha, np. I actually had looked there...I just stopped after awhile cause its so long...
This isnt a bug with adding a user. It the first time you boot after install. It shows that error message. But it doesnt cause any problems. everything works fine if you click ok.

Im experiencing the same issue with ubuntu intrepid. I get the same error once remastersys has been used i noticed that its the .conf .gconf and .gnome2 that causes this problem. Besides that i dont know how to get rid of that box. Everything works fine but its just annoying.

I found out why you get that box during loggin. It happens when you screw up in some folders of /usr/share/  usually the folders of background, themes, icons, sounds are the one people modify to give a nice look and we tend to mess up with the permissions. Make sure the permissions are for root full access and for normal users only read only everything else should work. :P
