Just to see if I understand remastersys

If I do a sudo remastersys backup, then I can only use the LiveCD on the hardware that the original Linux Mint is on. If I do a sudo remastersys distro, then I can use the the LiveCD on any hardware. Am I correct?

That would be incorrect. How the casper livecd scripts work is that they probe for hardware during livecd boot so even if you use the backup option, it should work on other hardware.

Also, you don't do "sudo remastersys distro" you do "su" and then "remastersys dist"
