i want to put the linux games on main menu

I have been around computers for some time but this one is pulling my leg. I am trying to add the Games option to the Main Menu through system preferences. Every time I click on the check box to add it, if i click anywhere else on the screen it removes the check mark. whats the deal? I am using mint 7 gloria and it is a full install.

Have you installed the gnome-games packages yet? If you do not have any games installed, I do not think the menu will activate. That would be the first thing I would check.
