Update Errors - GPG signature invalid (SOLVED)

Postby EddieW on Sat Sep 08, 2012 2:33 pm

I installed Mint 13 Cinnamon (64bit) on a Gateway laptop in a dual boot configuration with Windows 7 about a month or so ago. It has been working flawlessly up until now. I've not used it for about a week and a half and have made no changes to the system. Today I booted it up in order to update the system, and I find that I can't. I get these same errors.

I tried your suggestion to Viking777 and it didn't work.

I took screen shots before and after and posted them to Shutterfly. If you want to take a look, go to my share site at:

Any and all help is appreciated. Thanks.

I haven't used Linux Mint since my last message. I don't like being online without having the system updated. Tried it again just now with the same result. The answer to your second request is as follows:

And the answer to your first request is as follows:

I also reopened the Update Manager and attempted to refresh the packages ... here is the result:

I tried method 2 first, since it was the shorter one. It appeared to do it's thing but the result was the same. I even did a Windows style reboot.

Using method 1 failed on the $ sudo -i ... it says that there is no such command. I cut and pasted it twice and then typed it in by hand. Same, same. No joy.

Any more suggestions? I'll try almost anything.

Ahhhh Crud! You can tell it has been a long long time since I used a command line ... OK, Ok ... Method 1 works when I use the commands without the $ and # prompts like I'm SUPPOSED TO.

OK, problem solved. Thanks for the help. I couldn't have done it without you.

After running method 1 the system updates just fine. It seems to be back to normal. Sure wish I understood what happened in the first place.
