i decided to make a move to linux recently(for most of my day to day activities). Initially i went for ubuntu, but i found the unity interface discouraging. I then tried lubuntu but faced many difficulties. Subsequently I was recommended by a buddy of mine to try out linux mint. I installed Cinnamon first but after reading up a bit more, felt that mate environment was more of my thing. My current install is a Linux Mint Mate 13.
My specs :
A6-5400k amd CPU
Gigabyte F2A75M-D3H mobo
4gb kingston value ram
1 Samsung 840 SSD
1 WD Red 3TB HDD
After installing the OS, there was a notification to upgrade certain packages(457mb). After that i proceeded to make certain changes.
1) Enable SSD Trim
2)Auto mount and chown 2nd Hdd
3)Switch to proprietary AMD Drivers
4) Enable DHCP and set a static ip for file sharing
5)Installed Team viewer
During the last 2 days, very rarely the system would just freeze and reboot. However today it became worst, literally within 5-10 minutes and the systems freezes and reboots. Sometimes it just freezes.
I tried press CTRL+ALT+F1 but nothing happens. I uninstalled the amd proprietary drivers, thinking that was the issue, but it still happens. The most recent error i got is a cpu lock(refer to picture
I do not think it is hardware overheating as i bought a separate cooling fan for the cpu. Also i have not used any intensive applications or stressed the pc in anyway. I did not experience these crashes on ubuntu/lubuntu. (hoping and crossing my fingers it's not a hardware issue). Hope someone can advise me on what to do. I really want to use linux mint mate. It's perfect and i find it so much more simpler to use and a good platform for beginners to better understand linux.
Thank you very much for your time and effort in advance!
