Alt+F2 in LXDE doesn't bring up "run program" dialog

Postby patrick.mooney on Fri May 04, 2012 3:25 am

Hello,

I've started using LXDE recently to help save resources on my relatively old computer, and have somehow disabled whatever service pops up the "Run Program" dialog box in response to the Alt+F2 keystroke combo. I miss it and want to bring it back ... any suggestions?

Currently running Linux Mint Julia on an HP Pavilion dv6000 with 2 gigs of RAM and a 2 GHz Intel Core Duo processor.

Any help is much appreciated.
Current setup: Sony VAIO VGN-FZ250E, 2GB RAM, Intel Core Duo, 2.2GHz; Linux Mint Nadia

Don't know the problem, but I would always check setup/settings..

Check .config/openbox/lxde-rc.xml. On mine it reads
Code: Select all
<!--keybindings for LXPanel --><keybind key="W-r"><action name="Execute"><command>lxpanelctl run</command></action></keybind><keybind key="A-F2"><action name="Execute"><command>lxpanelctl run</command></action></keybind>
. At worst, you can create a desktop or taskbar link by using
Code: Select all
exec=lxpanelctl run
.
