Ok. I'm not talking about the screen refresh rate. I'm talking about how slow a Linux Mint 12 installed machine is to respond to any and all commands.
The LM12 machine is a dual core 2.0ghz amd machine, 2mb Ram. It's using an Asus M2Ne-Se board, with an NVidia 6150 integrated video chipset. I know... not the best setup in the world, but plenty for normal and quick operations. I've got it connected to an LCD TV as a media machine. When I'm connected directly to the box, it's fast, and responsive. When I'm controlling it via any other computer over VNC, I can see on the TV that the machine is quick and responsive. However, the refresh rate to the remote client is extraordinarily slow. Much slower than say, VNC installed on a pair of Windows machines would be.
So, is there a conf file I can edit to decrease the span between polls for changes? I installed gconf-editor, but the remote desktop settings available through that don't allow for this. Otherwise, I don't even know where to start looking.
