PXE Help

I am trying to learn this whole linux thing I have been useing it for 2 days now and no way to go back to windows. My problem is this, I have a very old (like me) compacq computer. The bios is dated 1999 and I need to flash it so I can use usb drive, and problems with date and time aswell as many other BIOS related problems. HP has an updated BIOS i can get through NETBOOT I down loaded PXE and just don't know what to do with it. How do I use it. And is it even what I need to do a NETBOOT?

Flashing a BIOS has little to do with any OS (Linux, Windows or Apple) and is specific to the hardware and the BIOS manufacturer

The BIOS manufacturer or your computer vendor has the appropriate files available

The safest way to flash a BIOS is via a diskette(floppy) or other boot media, with the appropriate BIOS files and BIOS flash utility included
--it saves the current BIOS so that you can get it back if there are problems..
