I've narrowed the problem down to happening when music is playing (happened with both Banshee and Guayadeque) and I hit the upper left corner menu of the current GNOME version. System freezes, I can move my mouse but nothing else. I get the same freeze occasionally at other moments like when I have many tabs open in firefox and do too many things too quickly. I reverted to GNOME classic and so far no freezes while playing audio and doing many things.
This problem seems similar to those described here and here, with no known fix except disabling things. Can anyone suggest a better alternative to GNOME classic, be it a different DE or disabling any other options?
Running Mint 12 x64, the problems happened with GNOME 3 or whatever the default version is.
