Seems it's harmless, i have it on all machines i installed Mint. Two new laptops and one desktop all have different graphics, Intel, Nvidia, CPU Intel / AMD, have it always from the beginning and i don't bother it since everything works fine, but... something should be fixed coz it's not normal to have any errors messages like this.

This problem went away after the following steps:

Failed step:
Booted into recovery, attempted to use the option to fix broken packages, fail to resolve archive.ubuntu.com, basically failed attempt at upgrading packages.

It-works-now step:
Boot into normal mode.
Open terminal as root, attempt apt-get upgrade (not distribution upgrade), installed whatever bits and pieces it needed, overwriting any older configs with package maintainer's versions.
Log out, no error but some terminal text, log in, log out, no error and also no funky text, just smoothly logs out to the login page.

This system is Mint 13 installed on USB with Cinnamon, now moved to MATE. After that I had the error text, and now after taking these above steps it hopefully will stay gone.

Is this really an issue?
My laptop with Linux Mint 13 does the same thing, but I don't see that its hurting anything.
I'm not looking into like the deepest levels of the computer but all my stuff is still here and works.
But if this is doing something I am missing could someone let me know :)
Thanks,
Mike

I already said quite a few times that it is harmless. People are still coming up with fixes but there is really no need for fixing it.

The message itself was harmless, but I also had the computer hanging at shutdown. I think this happened after I unchecked the boxes for playing the Login and System Ready sounds, while using the Login Window applet. I'm using Linux Mint MATE,so

Code: Select all
dpkg-reconfigure mdm

solved the problem.
