Question regarding voice talk & webcam in Pidgin.

Postby Surreal Killa on Wed Apr 02, 2008 6:56 pm

Basically, is it possible? I haven't tried webcam yet but my friend was on MSN and tried to start a voice chat but nothing was popping up on my end. So I'm wondering is it just not possible or do I have to install something?

If i recall correctly, Pidgin does not yet support webcam use. Try aMSN instead.
Cheers.

Pidgin does not support video or voice chat. You can try aMSN, but I don't like it, it is fugly and more or less a clone of MSN, so I live without video and sound chat..

I agree with Magnus :D, amsn sure doesn't win any aesthetics awards. There's always Skype, I don't use it but I don't think MSN profiles work with it.

I think desktop-based distro's should start improving the webcam support, maybe things have changed, but last time I got a webcam working it looked so bad it was unusable IMO.
