Help with AMD Turion

Hi, im not sure if this is a real problem but ive recently installed Mint Linux on my AMD Turion 2.1ghz machine, but when i install it and click the "System Settings option" in the "Tasty Menu" it says my machine is an i686, but i thought that was intel? i was also wondering if there is some drivers i need to install that will allow me to change the CPU frequency because the option doesnt appear in the battery settings. Any help is much appreciated thank you.

Mint is only i686, it is just the architecture the OS runs in, AMD is fully compatible with that.
