Cannot switch to text tty with Mint 14

Postby codetaku on Sat Dec 01, 2012 1:10 am

Hey all, I just installed Linux Mint 14 (Cinnamon) 2 weeks ago. Loving it thus far. But, I have a problem I have not been able to figure out. If I use ctrl+alt+f1, 2, 3, etc it will switch to a blank screen with a blinking cursor and nothing else. No login prompt. The getty processes are running:

ps -ef |grep getty
root 1648 1 0 Nov29 tty4 00:00:00 /sbin/getty -8 38400 tty4
root 1652 1 0 Nov29 tty5 00:00:00 /sbin/getty -8 38400 tty5
root 1662 1 0 Nov29 tty2 00:00:00 /sbin/getty -8 38400 tty2
root 1663 1 0 Nov29 tty3 00:00:00 /sbin/getty -8 38400 tty3
root 1665 1 0 Nov29 tty6 00:00:00 /sbin/getty -8 38400 tty6
root 2035 1 0 Nov29 tty1 00:00:00 /sbin/getty -8 38400 tty1

but I get nothing from any of the other ttys. I was able to use another tty to start a remote X session from my server, but still cannot get into a basic tty. I'm really not sure where to look, I hope someone here can help me out, it would be much appreciated!

Thanks!

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

Me too.
I don't even get the blinking cursor! The monitor goes to standby.
From what i've read online it's an NVIDIA drivers issue!!!
