I have installed linuxmint 14 on my computer (linuxmint 13 worked just fine) from the beginning using the install CD and it installed just fine, but when it asked me to remove the disk and restart the computer it would just hang on boot up (the last step before loading the program). The hard drive I installed it on is the primary hard drive in cmos for boot up. I even disconnected all other hard drives on computer and still hangs on reboot. Any ideas? Thanks

couple questions do you get the grub splash screen when you boot?

And what is your Video Card?

No I don't. It just hangs on blank screen. No signs of splash screen anywhere. I have an nvidia based video card.

Do you have any devices connected to USB?

Ok here's what I'd try first
go to the page below and download and run boot repair first see if that fixes the problem.
if not please list the log page it gives you.

Try that first then we will go from there.

Thank you kc1di. I had the same problem and this using Ubuntu boot repair worked for me. What's weird though is that yesterday even after rebooting Mint (14 mate) worked fine but this morning I got a black and white screen. I have now reinstalled and did the boot repair again and it seems to be working well again. If the problem persists Iĺl post here. Thanks again kc1di.

I get nothing, and still doesn't work. Do you think it has anything to do with me having a solid state drive?

I just installed it on my laptop no problem, that has the conventional (non-solid-state) hard drive.
