Nvidia direct rendering

Postby Kommy000 on Wed Apr 30, 2008 11:49 am

Hello again,
well I managed to make everything work in Linux Mint 4 Dayana, but seems like I can not make guild wars work. Nothing happens. I can see the guild wars running in system status but nothing on the screen.

After researching I found out that I do not have direct rendering enabled. I can not for some reason do that. Iam a newb so I do not know if I'm missing something easy. I even thought of installing Nvidia driver from Nvidia instead of Envy or restricted, " i tried them both with the same results" . By the way compiz and all eye candy works just fine either way, its just gaming doesnt work and I think because of direct rendering being disabled. If anybody can help me in plain english, please. I tried messing with xorg.conf and its still disabled.
here are my files:

And here is my xorg.conf

# sudo dpkg-reconfigure -phigh xserver-xorg

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

I think I fixed this:

sudo apt-get remove xserver-xgl

compiz is working and guild wars updating itself and shows that i have direct rendering enabled

Will see how the game runs
