SOLVED only boots with acpi=off

In order for me to boot into LM14 i have to add 'acpi=off'. when i use 'acpi=ht' it hangs again almost immediately and i need to force restart.

what ive read yields "This disables all of ACPI except just enough to enable Hyper Threading. If acpi=off works and acpi=ht fails, then the issue is in the ACPI table parsing code itself, or perhaps the SMP code."

Anyone familiar with this?

re-updated bios and it boots now.

sooo scratch that.. i didnt update grub after the bios update, and having done that today... stil need acpi=off

installed this kernel 3.7.3-030703-generic and now it boots fine and the fan doesnt run on overdrive anymore.

former issue regarding the Wireless not auto-on after boot is back, but better than the power problems
