problem installing mint iso

while trying to boot on the mint iso im getting an error: loading isolinux: disk error 80,AX=4200,drive 9f and an i/o error error reading boot cd, reboot. I have a sony laptop pcgk13 its about 5 years old pentium 4 with 80g hd and 1g of memory., and a 2g processor. please help, i have a fedora disk to fall back on but would really like mint i believe my machine will run better with mint. thank you.

It sounds as if you might have a bad CD. Did you burn the CD s-l-o-w, 4X - 8X, in a RAW mode? RAW modes are usually listed as SAO, TAO, or DAO.
After the burn is complete check the MD5 sum of the burned CD against the one published on the Mint download site for that version.
At least that would be my first guess anyway.

Check the wiki, got a pretty decent entry of how to burn ISO's.
