Aspect ratio changes after sleep mode in Cinnamon

I've got mint Cinnamon installed- after the computer goes into sleep mode, when it comes out again, the text and images are bigger and wider. I have to restart, and then they are back to normal. how do I restore them without having to restart? (or how to stop it from happening)
