SOLVED How to get rid of a repository error - noob question.

SOLVED How to get rid of a repository error - noob question.

Hi.

I am using Linux Mint 13 mate 32 bit.

I added a repository in the terminal with

Code: Select all
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:bimsebasse/cinnamonextras


that should contain some extras for linux mint. Then I typed in

sudo apt-get update


Now I got some errors with that:

E: Some index files failed to download. They have been ignored, or old ones used instead.


These problem stays and can also be seen when I use the update manager.

How can I fix this problem? Everywhere on the web you can read how to add a repository, but to delete it is not described. At least I have found nothing with google. Need help, please.

That repository has been discontinued by bimsebasse; viewtopic.php?f=208&t=98316. The easiest way to remove is to open Update Manager, select Software Sources from its Edit menu, and there on the Other Software tab remove all entries for this PPA. That will leave the packages you installed intact.

xenopeek, you are a great one. This has worked for me. I never knew that it was so easy to get rid of this problem.

Last time, I decided to reinstall linux mint. Next time an add repo doesn't work I will know how to fix the problem, thanks to you.

Have a nice weekend and I hope this topic will help beginners, like me, to get rid of repo errors.

You can mark a topic closed by clicking the edit button in the top-right of the first post you made in this topic. Then add the word <SOLVED> to the subject and others will see it has been solved :wink:
