Cinnamon 2D black screen after login

I had this one working a couple of weeks before I decided to install the latest nvidia driver from nvidia website. Now I can't log in to cinnamon 2D because all I get is a working mouse over a black screen. Normal cinnamon or mate session work just fine. If I try to uninstall the nvidia driver and install "nvidia-current" it's same story so I cant even revert back.

Checking the syslog I get the following:

I digged this forum all over without a solution so far. My PC specs are:

I7 3930K Sandy Bridge
Nvidia GTX 690
16GB RAM
INTEL 330 SSD

Cinnamon versionL 1.6.7
